Ravichandran Ashwin cricket professional
Throughout his cricketing career, Ashwin managed to build himself into a key player for the Indian shorter format of the game. Moreover, he proved himself with his extraordinary street smart skills on the ground which attracted franchises to acquire him.
He has created a reputation for himself in Twenty20 cricket, where his accuracy has helped him make a name for himself as an extremely reliable bowler. Dhoni’s ascendance has made him India’s greatest-ever ODI player, and his wickets tally on the subcontinent is unmatched by any spinner before him.
Ashwin in IPL
Ravichandran Ashwin, the talented young bowler from Tamil Nadu, got chosen for the 2009 season by his local franchise CSK. He only played in 2 games that season & didn’t have much of an impact. In the next campaign in 2010, his fortunes improved when he learned to bowl with such Sodukku Ball, a hybrid of carrom ball & off the break. After skipper MS Dhoni instructed him to adopt this bowling technique against SL during the 2011 WC, this spinning ball gained popularity. Since then, he has been an indispensable team member.
His life was filled with trophies as a result! As a result, he took 13 wickets and maintained an economy rate of 6.10. He was repurchased by CSK again for the 2011 season despite competition from Royal Challengers Bangalore. Ashwin had taken 20 wickets for CSK (average: 19.40 & economy: 6.15), helping them to two titles in three years (2010 & 2011). Having become an integral part of CSK’s setup, he was retained ahead of the 2014 season.
In 2014, he slipped out of form for a short time before returning to form. In the T20s, his economy rate in 2015 was quite impressive despite taking just 10 wickets in eight games. Ashwin was selected by Rising Pune Supergiants as an IPL Player in 2016, following his suspension from CSK for two years. After missing the 2017 season with an injury related to a sports hernia, he then suffered another setback.
King XI Punjab purchased Ashwin for Rs 7.6 crore in 2018. Ashwin was appointed captain of the team. His ability to try different things on the cricket pitch is remarkable. When he was the first captain of the IPL, he demonstrated his shrewdness, but at times he appeared cocky. KXIP will attempt to win their first title with Ashwin looking to make an impression in IPL 2019 after his absence from white-ball internationals.
IPL 2022
The addition of Ashwin to RR’s ranks has been a major boost for them. R. Ashwin & Yuzvendra Chahal are a dangerous spin duo, and managing them would’ve been challenging. The Indian off-spinner Ashwin has built a reputation for himself in the Test team, making an impact in a recent match against New Zealand and SL at home. In the Mohali Test, he surpassed Kapil Dev in becoming India’s 2nd-best wicket-taker.
