Rahul Dravid biography

Known as the wall of cricket in Test cricket, Rahul Dravid was born in a Marathi middle-class family on Jan 11, 1973. Rahul was born in Indore, Madhya Pradesh. This was in Bangalore when his entire family began residing, where he finished his early schooling and when he developed a love for cricket & wanted to play cricket.

Rahul Dravid IPL Career

Some of the athletes who played cricket in India have managed to make their way into sports lovers’ hearts because of the talent of their game.  The focus of this blog is Rahul Dravid, whom many refer to as the wall of cricket. In 2008, 2009, and 2010 Rahul Dravid played for RCB in the Indian Premier League. In 2013, he led his team to the Champions League T20 finals and played in the 2013 Indian Premier League play-offs for Rajasthan Royals. The 2013 Champions League Twenty20 was the last Twenty20 season for Dravid, who announced his retirement in September and October of 2013.

In his IPL career, Dravid has 11 fifties and hundreds in 82 innings of 89 matches. He has 2174 runs in 82 innings. Rahul has hit 268 fours and 28 sixes in his IPL career, while Dravid has been 5 not out.

Career as Coach

In 2014, Dravid officially assumed the role of IPL team mentor for the Rajasthan Royals, starting a position he first held in 2004. Additionally, he served as a mentor for the Indian national team’s 2014 tour of England, with which he was involved. Dravid was appointed as the head coach of the India U-19 and India A teams following the 2015 IPL season, in which the U19s reached the final of the 2016 U-19 Cricket World Cup. 

Dravid led the Royals to a third-place finish in the 2015 IPL season. In 2018, the team won their fourth Under-19 World Cup, the most of any national team, beating Australia by 8 wickets. Ishan Kishan, Rishabh Pant, Washington Sundar, and many others are among the players he elevated to the national team. Besides coaching, Dravid also mentored the Delhi Daredevils, a team that played in the Indian Premier League. 

As Head of Cricket at the NCA(National Cricket Academy), Dravid oversees all cricket activities at the NCA, and is involved in mentoring, coaching, training, and motivating players, coaches, and support staff. He assumed this role in July 2019 following his four-year stint as a coach of the junior teams. His work at NCA included supplying the senior team with a steady supply of talent and improving player health and rehabilitation programs. After being appointed as India’s national coach in November 2021, he moved to Australia.
